MOD Spotlight: Getting The Drop On LAG
One of the most common questions we get asked about from World of Warcraft players is how to reduce WoW Lag. If you like to raid, you know how much Lag can tick you off. There are number of things you can do to improve game speed which includes; increasing paging size, lowering the game settings in the options menu, and of course upgrading your hardware. These are all things that we recommend but if you play outside the US, such as players in the military, those are not going to make a huge difference on Lag. The single most effective method is by streamlining your connection to the game servers.
For those that don’t know how to do this, it requires the use of a routing server with optimized set ups. We have used a lot ping reducer tools, but we want to highlight the one that has been by far the most reliable. In this edition of MOD Spotlight we focus on the WTFast MOD for WoW.
The Mod works by re-routing the connection through their servers and finds the fastest path to the game servers. Basically your connection already does this but usually goes through many datacenter re-routes before it gets to Blizzard's servers, with the WTFast Mod, it points it right to Blizzard. After a lot of testing we give it a thumbs up for proving the service free (has an optional upgrade) and being safe to use, and of course it reduces the ping even more than we anticipated.
If you live in Seattle you will see less of ping reduction, if you play from Iraq… The difference is like night and day. The reason we love the mod so much is its usefulness to the game as a whole, Lag does not just suck for the player that gets it, it sucks for anyone that has to raid with them too. Aside from considering making the WTFast Mod required for our entire Guild, I believe that just about anyone could benefit from using it.
