Aion: The Tower of Eternity is the upcoming Tripple-A massively multiplayer online role-playing game from NCsoft that takes you into the masterfully designed world of Atreia.  In this colorful but dangerous world, players take flight with winged characters to take part in factional warfare that goes deep into the games rich storyline. 

NCsoft is known for its highly adaptive and completive online games that include major successes like Lineage 2, Guild Wars, and City of Heroes.  Aion: The Tower of Eternity stands apart from other MMOs as one of the most visually appealing games that is in development and will certainly be the largest online game released in 2009.

The question is will Aion counter the ginderific experience of Lineage 2 while not losing the hardcore gamer base that Ncsoft is known for?  Will Aion satisfy the gaming population that is looking for challenge, fun, and still have a life outside of the game?

Here are some of the features of Aion:

    * The World: Aion is set in a unique land where players explore the inside of a shattered world, separated into two halves with the Abyss between them.

    * Aerial Combat: No longer limited to two-dimensional combat on the ground, players in Aion can fly. Now think of online combat on a massive scale where attacks can come in any direction.

    * PvPvE: Players will be able to engage in intense raids and other encounters with computer opponents, not to mention the opposing player faction.

    * Classes: Players have a choice of four classes to start with, and can then move on to two more specialized classes once they attain a certain level of capability.

    * Character Customization: You can customize your character in a multitude of ways with a thorough character creation and crafting system, as well as detailed item customization options.

Who needs two dimensional combat when you can have three?  Aion offers players the ability to take control of valuable resources that will evolve the territory based on player involvement.  While other MMORPgs have scrambled to add wings to their character classes, the Aerial feature of Aion has been carefully built into the core infrastructure of game-play so that Maps, Quests, and Combat are all affected by the flight system.

While the cities are a visual treat, they are not just for graphical entertainment, each city is designed within the factional warfare system, allowing players to siege for their control and the political power they grant.

The crafting system has been designed to allow crafting and item alterations that unique abilities and of course, increased power (or the impression of increased power) to the weapons and equipment that play a lead role in determining the victors on the battlefield.

Character customization in Aion is impressive.  With the use of sliders, players can change the appearance of their character to their specifications ensuring uniqueness to the character they choose to master.
