 Star Wars Old Republic

The newest class to SWtoR is revealed: Imperial Agent

Star Wars: The Old Republic – BioWare’s MMO Star Wars project – revealed the newest class last week: the Imperial Agent.  The Imperial Agent is the sixth class to be revealed for the Star Wars MMO, and will be joining the ranks of Bounty Hunter, and Sith Warrior on the Empire side.

Imperial Agent

Sean Dahlberg gave an official announcement on the SWtoR forums:

“The Imperial Agent is heavily inspired by several classic Star Wars characters such as Zam Wessel and Grand Moff Tarkin. Imperial Agents work behind the scenes to get the work of the Empire done. Specializing in high-tech gear, the Imperial Agent always has the right tools at the right time. They use abilities of subversion and subterfuge to infiltrate and assassinate enemies of the Sith Empire with deadly efficiency. Players who choose to be Imperial Agents in The Old Republic (TOR) will see the underbelly of the Empire in a whole new light.”

We speculate that the Imperial Agent will be a light armor wearing class, which can deal heavy damage, but can take a lot of damage too.  BioWare has already shown it’s creativity with The Old Republic, like the Smuggler’s class cover system, and we’re sure to see some creative mechanics in the Imperial Agent’s repertoire.

WOW

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King – Tier 10

Patch 3.3, Icecrown Citadel, is the next major content patch for WoW: WotLK.  In this patch, players will be able to finally venture into Icecrown Citadel and face Arthas: the Lich King, and his fiercest generals of the Scourge army.  Killing these new foes allows players to acquire more powerful items, and Emblems of Frost, which can be used to purchase the new armor tier: Tier 10.  Blizzard has finally released the last armor set preview, and players can start to drool over the tier graphics.  While the actual armor stats are still unavailable, we’re constantly checking the PTR for updates on the tier stats.  Be sure to check back with MMOFury for updates on the new tier 10!

Shaman T10  Warrior T10

How to Acquire Tier 10

Tier 10 will come as two different sets: Tier 10 and Tier 10.5.  Tier 10 will not drop from bosses, but will be purchased using Emblems of Frost.  Tier 10.5 will require the Tier 10 item, plus a token dropped by bosses in 25-player versions of Icecrown Citadel.

Emblems of Frost are obtainable from killing bosses in 10 and 25-player versions of Icecrown Citadel, and by completing the first random Heroic dungeon of the day.

Please note that this information is subject to change, and MMOFury will be sure to bring the latest news on tier 10 to players.

Allods

Allods Online Beta Is Here!

There has been growing anticipation for Gala-Net's latest mmorpg to reach Closed Beta Status 'Allods Online' which over the past several months has seen its fair share of comparisons, some even going so far as to compare it to the tripple-A MMO Aion that was recently launched by NCsoft.  With graphics boldly similar to "A Certain MMO" the comparisons really end when the game systems and storyline are considered.  Allods may just be that sleeper mmo that grabs people by surprise, when you take a look at the fact that this was actually a major development project costing Russian developer Astrum Nival nearly $15 million to create, it really is no surprise that this game stands out as competitor.  For those not familiar with Astrum Nival, they are the same top tier development studio in that designed Heroes of Might & Magic V for Ubisoft.

Allods Astral

Allods boasts some unique features such as its Astral space setting, made up of floating islands called allods.  Gamers can journey through this randomly-generated space on player-built ships with crews of up to dozens of players.  Each crewmember serves a distinct role on the ship, from navigator to helmsman, to even Captain.  Players can discover hoards of treasure troves, take on Astral Demons bigger than entire ships, or even fend off other players who have decided to embrace a life of piracy through PVP combat.  Beta Testers will see that Allods is like "A Certain MMO" meets Pirates of the Buring Sea with an Aion Mystic and a Star Trek concept.

Here is Gala-Net's official game descriptive:

Gala-Net & Astrum Nival have delivered a MMORPG featuring unprecedented production values and content for a free-to-play game.  The animation is fully motion-captured and the visuals have been designed by internationally award-winning artists.  In addition, Mark Morgan, the composer for the hit TV series Dexter, as well as PC epics Fallout 1 & 2, Descent II, and Planescape: Torment, wrote the game’s orchestral score.  Players can choose between 2 factions, 6 races, 8 archetypes, and 28 classes.  Meanwhile, the game features a plethora of content: 1,500+ quests, full PvP, raiding content, instance dungeons, crafting system designed as minigames, pets, and even goblinball--soccer played with a goblin!

Closed Beta 1 is intended to test levels 1-10 for both League and Empire factions, all the races, classes, and relevant zones.  The beta test is being held November 10th through November 24th.

Torchlight

A New Dungeon Crawler You’re Dying To Play

Engineers with magic, Archers with knives, Warriors with fish guns, and everyone haves pets?!  Has the world of dungeon crawlers gone mad?!  Nope, they’ve gone great, and Runic Games has made an addicting, and crazy fun dungeon crawler called Torchlight.

What is Torchlight?

Torchlight is an action RPG for the PC and is developed by Runic Games.  This pure dungeon crawler is set in the mining city of Torchlight, which has a sprawling and dangerous dungeon below it: Ember mines.  Torchlight is a direct Diablo spawn, with creators from Diablo, Fate, and Mythos games; however, unlike other Diablo spawns, Torchlight has excelled past its predecessor in almost every way by offering new gameplay mechanics that fit so well with the play style, that we’re surprised they haven’t been used in the past.

Is Torchlight an MMO?

No, Torchlight is not an MMO… yet.

Yet?

Many people have asked Runic Games if Torchlight would go online.  Here is their official response: “Because of the relatively short development window and tiny development team, we decide to focus our efforts on making a complete single-player experience. However, we are already in development of a massively multiplayer action-RPG set in the world of Torchlight for future release.”

It’s not an MMO, why should I care?

Players should love, adore, and buy Torchlight for several reasons:

Torchlight is a great game!

I think it is obvious that we love MMOs here at MMOFury, and when we were asked to play Torchlight, we thought it’d be a fun dungeon crawler.  We were completely blown away at how fun it actually was, and how fun it is to talk about the game to others who play it.  The stories you share about your epic adventures and epic loots is reason enough to play this game.

Stomp

Torchlight is a huge bang for your buck!

Coming in at only $20.00, off Steam, Torchlight provides a ton of fun for such a small price.  You can make three different characters: the Vanquisher, the Destroyer, and the Alchemist.  While this may seem like a small amount of classes, each class has a talent tree that greatly affects the way the class will play in the game.  For example, you could play the Alchemist as a mage, a warlock, or as a melee wizard, and all have very different abilities.

Players will decide if Torchlight becomes an MMO

What we mean by that statement is that Torchlight will only become an MMO if it’s a successful game.  Runic Games is a smaller team, and didn’t have the means to push this game into the online realm at launch.  If Torchlight does well, the game could become a Free2Play MMO with PvP and PvE aspects.  Needless to say, we really want to see that happen, because the game is so great at single-player that we know fighting in dungeons with our friends will be incredibly fun.
