Review: Phoenix Dynasty Online
Phoenix Dynasty Online is yet another MMORPG set in ancient China. The game has an interesting concept related to the five elements of fire, water, earth, wood and metal. The classes within the game are adjudged according to the quantity of these elements with them. The action takes place in one of the four feudal states of China, named as Chi, Chu, Qin and Zhao. In this game that is richly steeped in China's ancient history, there are elements of savage warfare, spineless politics, survival strategies and a final capture of power by becoming the hero of the particular state the player is fighting for.
The classes present in Phoenix Dynasty Online are paladin, assassin, wizard and priest, and in each class there are several levels. Players can choose the class at the outset, and depending on the class they have chosen, they are given special abilities and talents. Apart from that, there are professions to choose from, which are called as life skills in this game. There are various professions here, just a few of which are alchemy, armor crafting, blacksmithing, jewel crafting, medicine making and a whole lot more.
The graphics of the Phoenix Dynasty Online look no less than paintings. Though they might appear to be jarring in an MMORPG, they do not tax the game in the least. The colors of ancient China have been wonderfully captured. Players are mesmerized by the sheer variety that is present in Phoenix Dynasty Online. The game has literally thousands of quests to perform, and there are endless varieties of armors, weapons, equipments, mounts, etc. This mmorpg download is highly recommended for anyone who wants to have a rocking great time.

MMOFury had the chance to chat with Corum Online's Elliott Coward to gain insight on its many features and discuss the future plans for a game that is earning the respect of veteran mmorpg gamers accross the globe. Take a look at what he had to say...
| MMOFury | | Can you please explain the general concept of the game and how was it developed? | | | | | Elliott Coward
| | Corum Online is a Dungeon based MMORPG. The story of Corum Online starts in the land of Elland. Elland was a natural wonder, a playground for the Gods. It was in a constant cycle of creation and destruction. Eventually, an evil mortal dictator rose to power. At the height of his power, he performed evil rituals which destroyed the land and created a horrid evil world. The following years of evil caused the land of Elland to be known as the land of Corum, and split up into 14 different nations; each with their own troubles within their nations. Over hundreds of years, peace was finally reached. Now there is a growing need to unite the 14 nations and eliminate all the evil from the land. It is now the time that everyone must work together to vanquish evil, or become evil themselves.
Corum has been one of the more popular MMORPG's in Korea and Japan for years, so it was a natural choice for our (Gala-Net's) gPotato gaming portal. We just recently celebrated our one year anniversary since the public launch of Corum Online. | | | | | | MMOFury | | How will you describe the various features that have been submerged in the game to make it more interesting and appealing to the gaming community? | | | | | | Elliott Coward | | The primary feature that attracts most players to Corum Online is the dungeon system. There are several Dungeons that allow players to siege, survive or train.
Dungeons level up as if they were players throughout the week. As more characters enter the dungeon, more powerful Monsters arrive to help protect the dungeon. It's best thought of as a smart dungeon that doesn't want to be defeated and sends reinforcements.
Players can control entire dungeons in game and gain rewards for their control, including taxes and uniquely rare crafting materials. This also adds an in-depth hardcore PvP system most other games don't have.
Survival Dungeons also allow players to fight and survive to win a special prize each day if they can make it through.
Along with Dungeons, we also have a fantastic Guardian (pet) system. Guardians are hatched and continue to level with you while protecting you along the way. We also have plans on a breeding system that allow you to adapt your guardians to fit your character build.
| | | | | | MMOfury | | The Dungeon System is your key feature, is there a goal number for how many dungeons you would like to have in the game? | | | | | Elliott Coward
| | We never want to have a set number, we have goals for a minimum of new dungeons, but never a maximum. Plain and simple mmorpg players can burn through content like a hot knife through butter. We have been very pleased with our developer support. We have been introducing new options and patches weekly, and new content on a regular basis. Currently we are focusing on a completing new High level dungeon that introduces new Guardian components never before seen. | | | |
| MMOFury
| | The game play and sound quality of the game are quite good; however, PvP features have also impressed many users. Did you pay special attention to this aspect of the game? | | | | | | Elliott Coward | | Yes! Absolutely, Corum Online is very focused on PvP. One of our most popular daily events is our Honor Battle grounds where players join teams to battle for control of a custom dungeon to win special items not available anywhere else. Currently our developers are working on a Guild Vs. Guild Honor Battle system we will be rolling out very soon. Guilds will compete in a tournament style system. | | | | | MMOFury
| | There are always questions from gamers regarding the quality of items in a cash store vs naturally obtained items. Can you explain the balance in Corum Online between these two options. | | | | | | Elliott Coward | | Well gPotato.com has always felt that our games must be free to play and just as fun whether or not you pay for premium items. Corum Online is no exception. We try to only sell items that do not create too large a rift between players that purchase premium items and players that do not. Also all of our items are available for trade in game, so players who are not able to purchase items in our Item Shop can still obtain these items.
This is something that takes up considerable time, we actually just rejected a new item idea because we felt it made it too much of a necessity to use the Item Shop. | | | | | MMOFury
| | Many users consider it a game for casual gamers. What plans do you have to attract hardcore users towards Corum Online? | | | | | | Elliott Coward | | Well we know from past experiences from our other games, what keeps players coming back; that's new content, new features and competition. We are constantly developing, brainstorming and implementing all of these as often as possible.
We are currently working on expanding the guild system and guild ladder system that allows people to work together and interact more, in both a PvE and PvP setting. We feel that this is the key to strong community building and establishing an even more dedicated fan base.
We have real time Duel tracking that will give up to the hour status on which players have the best dueling record, most duels, and longest winning streak, all viewable by any player.
Corum is the same as all our games on the gPotato portal. It's all about the players. We are nothing without them and want to do everything we can to make the game their own. We are constantly talking to players for ideas on what they would like to see and what they think need change. | | | | | MMOfury
| | What kind of expansion system is planned for the Corum Online, are you focused on providing large content patches spontaneously or will they be featured as heavily anticipated events? | | | | | | Elliott Coward | | At this time there is no plan for a heavily anticipated release. We are focusing on getting content out for players as quickly as possible. Currently our developers are stretching themselves thin with all the things they have planned for our game. They are very ambitious and have been delivering consistently, and we expect it to continue for a very long time.
The future is very bright for Corum Online despite the lack of a new Edition or Version like our other games. | | | | | | MMOFury | | Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions for us, you have offered alot of great information on Corum Online.
Players can find out more information on Corum Online at gpotato's official game site http://corum.gpotato.com/

HuxleyHuxley is an upcoming MMORPG that being developed by Webzen, and is becoming one of the most anticipated games in its genre and has attracted loads of attention. The basic idea behind the game is a 1930’s novel. However, South Korean game manufacturer decided to turn this novel into a MMORPG game. Therefore, Huxley came into being and has been well recieved. The graphics of the game are quite spectacular and Huxley’s screenshots make you want to get this MMO game.
Huxley represents the on-going battle between the three rival human races, known as Sapiens, Hybrids and Alternatives. Due to some chemical reaction caused by an alien substance, the basic form of human beings was changed forever. Sapiens resembles to the original human beings the most; however, Alternatives turned into gigantic figures that are quite brutal in nature. Hybrids consist of the mixture of both these races. The main reason for battle is Lunarites. Lunarites is a new energy source which is quite necessary for the survival of each race. Huxley is about the battle to gain control over the world and destroy the rival race. Huxley features three basic classes: the enforcer, the avenger and the phantom. The enforcer is the class that is used for close-range combats. The avenger is used for combats that are mid-ranged. The phantom class represents the sniper class in the game.
The combat system is designed to become more exciting because of the opportunity available to each player to buy loads of weapons. There are around nine classes of different and new weapons available to the user. As the player will progress in the game, their level will increase. With increasing levels, one will be able to excess more advanced weaponry and will become more powerful.
There will be three types of armor: heavy, light, and medium. There will be five different items available for armory. This armor can be chosen by the player according to his needs. They can also be changed and modified to fulfill different character customization requirements of the user. The skills can be used in these armors directly. It depends upon the character chosen by the player and his level. One of the key Huxley’s features is the transportation system. There are various kinds of vehicles available to the player depending on his chosen race and class. These vehicles are not just used for attacking purposes but they are also used to carry battalions from one place to another. The vehicles will be basically divided into two classes: civilian vehicles, used as a sign of player’s wealth, and battlefield vehicles, used only in battle fields and not in cities like civilian vehicles. Finally, a good mmorpg that has battle vehicles...
In summary, Huxley offers an amazing environment for all its users. It is an action packed game for people who like action thrillers. It looks to have the potential to keep you at your seat and it will make you rush off from work or leave everything else just so you can play it.

MMOFury Interview
MMOFury caught up with Ankama Game's Cédric Gérard, and filled us in on their upcoming MMORPG, DOFUS Arena. Cédric discusses everything from major development hurdles to upcoming suprises that they have in-store for its release. Have a look...
| MMOFury | Can you explain the basic concept behind Dofus Arena and how was it developed? | | | | | Cédric Gérard | DOFUS Arena is a tactical player versus player game. Players create their team from scratch by selecting various classes and spells, weapons and equipments, and pets from the DOFUS universe. Your team can be of 2-6 characters depending on how you equip them, as each equipment and spells are deducted from the standard 6000 points pool everyone has to draw from.
The fighting system is turn based, one turn is 30 secs. If you've played tactical RPG's like Final Fantasy Tactics and Disgaea, you can add multiplayer experience and the pvp adrenaline and you'll have a close idea of the potential of Dofus-Arena. | | | | | | | | | | | MMOFury | What were the main hurdles and problems that in the development and promotion of Dofus Arena? | | | | | Cédric Gérard | We had to develop a whole new graphic engine for Dofus-Arena, while retaining the fighting system that made the success of DOFUS. Dofus-Arena and Wakfu, our next MMO, will actually share a bit of the same engine. It was quite difficult to achieve beautiful 2D graphic results while keeping the client size very low, but we managed to do it. Dofus-Arena is also coded in Java, while DOFUS is in Flash, so we had to rethink the whole code as well and explore a new programming language. | | | | | MMOFury | Can you list various interesting and key features of Dofus Arena so a new user may find it easier to choose it over other MMORPG games? | | | | | Cédric Gérard | Dofus-Arena is very chilled out, actually it's closer to a tactical PVP game than a real MMO like DOFUS or Wakfu. There are no NPC's or monsters, and if you don't want to fight, you're able to walk around and enjoy the landscape, just chatting with people, exploring. If you're into hardcore fighting and don't care about the landscape, you can just initiate a search for a random fight based on your level, and experience the joys of tactics against other people. There will be lots of tournaments and events organized, so there's a lot of competition involved. | | | | | MMOFury | Dofus Arena has a very colorful and bright look to it. The graphics can be considered cute. Are you basically targeting younger audience? | | | | | Cédric Gérard | We found out that most people enjoy our graphics regardless of their age. Older people can enjoy cute graphics too, you don't need to be a child to enjoy them! Besides Dofus-Arena is quite technical and requires wits, so we're actually expecting an older audience. Time will tell! | | | | | MMOFury | It is one of the most popular PvP games in the market. What factors have led to such success? | | | | | Cédric Gérard | We're still approaching the final beta stages, but yes it has been very successful so far. We think a lot of the DOFUS audience is attracted, has also attracted new players because of the success of DOFUS and the talks about Wakfu, and also new players who are into competitive gaming and have not found a similar type of game. | | | | | MMOFury | Constant development is very necessary for the continuing success of any game. What plans are there to develop Dofus Arena so it can continue to build on its initial success? | | | | | Cédric Gérard | We have lots of surprises coming for Dofus-Arena: special tournaments, secret islands, rewards, but it would not be a surprise if we let it all now, would it :) | | | | | MMOFury | The general reviews from users have been very positive. Does this motivate you to expand this game further and release more versions of the game? | | | | | Cédric Gérard | Absolutely, we are thrilled with the response and are now looking towards the release candidate version, and should announce the release date in the coming weeks. | | | | MMOFury
| Well that is the end of the questions we have for you at this point, you have filled us in on alot of great information. Thank you for taking the time to chat with us and we look forward to hearing more great news on DOFUS Arena.
