For sure blade is the best 1x1 class.
Its also a good aoe class, it have the best block rate in game.
Almost all the damage is miss, so hp is useless for blades aoe, but, usually, its better make it just lvl 100+
Before lvl 100, blade aoe aren't that good.

Blades are really the best 1x1 class, but can be tedious always hitting without skills but self buffs

BJs block way more. Rangers (AoE) also block waaay more than a blade. Unless you build a full dex blade. But u didn't mention that

Blades would be the best 1vs1 class at higher lvls, but bilposters have way more advantages: They have stonehand, which comes in helpfull when killing monsters that do high damage, and Asal which is the strongest skill in the game. The disadvantage is they do lower damage than blades, but they can solo monsters up to 15 lvls higher with a good build and good equips before lvl 60.

Most players do tend to choose a mercenary for their first job....but i guess it's their choice of what second job class they would like to be.
