 WOW

Forever Changing the Landscape of WoW

Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms will be getting a major overhaul in World of Warcraft's new Cataclysm Expansion.  For those sentimental types, you will want to take a stroll back through some of your old low level stomping grounds because things are about to change.  What you once knew may very well get destroyed and new villages and storyline added in its place.  The point is that Blizzard knows many areas that you once leveled in are no longer really used, so enter the Catalysm to stir things up alot and create enough chaos that new tasks will need to be completed.

I have had a chance to play on these new landscapes and I have to say, they did more than just add a few broken down walls and rearange the vegetation.  The graphics have been so vastly changed that you will think you are playing a different game.  I was very sceptical at first because I felt that while the Lich King did great things, it was still the same old WoW, but the amount of detail that has been put into the new expansion is grand enough for me to take a few hits from being labled a WoW Fanboi.  Is it still a cartoon?  Of course, but its like upgrading from loony tunes to animaniacs.  The differences in Cataclysm are that significant.  Here are some of the features that are being incorporated into the game.

  • Two New Playable Races: Choose one of two new races the cursed worgen on the Alliance side or the pesky but smart goblins for the Horde.   And yes, the goblins do havefront flips as default.
  • Cataclysm Level Cap Increases Max Level to 85: The trees are swaying: You will be able to gain new abilities, tap into new talents structures, and move through the path system, a new character improvement system.
  • Classic Zones Remade: The original zones across the original continents of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms have been significatly changed and includes new content, from the devastated Badlands to the broken Barrens, which has been split in two.
  • New High-Level Zones: Cataclysm opens new parts of the world, including Uldum, Grim Batol, and the great Sunken City of Vashj'ir beneath the sea.
  • More Raid Content in Cataclysm than Ever Before in WoW: Take on high-level raid content fitting for this size of an expansion, with optional more challenging versions of all encounters.
  • New Race and Class Combinations: Journey thorugh Azeroth as a gnome priest, blood elf warrior, or one of the other never-before-available race and class combinations (Worgen).
  • Guild Advancement: Progress as a guild to earn guild levels and guild achievements.
  • New PvP Zone & Rated Battlegrounds: Take on PvP objectives and daily quests on Tol Barad Island, a new Wintergrasp-like zone, and wage war in all-new rated Battlegrounds.
  • Archaeology: Master a new secondary profession to unearth valuable artifacts and earn unique rewards.
  • Flying Mounts in Azeroth: Explore Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms like never before.
