Journey to the Frozen Throne of The Lich King
Icecrown Citadel is going to house an impressive 10 man dungeon spread out over 3 wings of the citadel's foundation. With the Lich King being distracted by Argent Crusade and the Knights of the Ebon Blade sieging through the front of the Icecrown Citadel, WoW players will be put to test by helping Jaina Proudmoore (Alliance) and Sylvanas Windrunner (Horde) entering the citadel from an alternate entrance. The recommended level for the instances is 80 and groups can contain 10 and 25 player groups.
The Icecrown Citadel will feature an epic line of quests that are intended to weaken Icecrown Citadel's forces, by defeating the challenges of each wing of the dungeon in order to pass to the next. The Citadel will feature 2 versions; Normal and Heroic with each dungeon wing considered a separate instance. Heroic difficulty will include a separate lock out timer for each wing. The loot that drops in the instances will include item level 219 for normal, and level 232 for Heroic loot which will be dropped by the various Lich King bosses such as; The Devourer of Souls, Krick and Ick, and The Lich King himself. The Icecrown Citadel will be heavily fortified and in the mountains of southern Icecrown. Gigantic ramparts and massive, blade-like spires surround it, the huge towers are an impressive landmark of the Icecrown skyline, which give off a beacon of light from its pinnacle.
The Citadel sprawls underneath Icecrown and Icecrown Glacier, and the rift. Where is The Lich Kings Frozen Throne? Its location was on an island in the rift of the glacier raised above the majority of the underground Citadel. Icecrown Citadel right now is intended to host the last encounter in Wrath of the Lich King, that includes the Lich King as the final and most powerful boss, there is still speculation if he will be killable or not. Until now, players could only interact with Arthas through loads of quests over the course of the expansion, which included an event at Angrathar the Wrathgate located at the Dragonblight, the actual instance that will feature the highly anticipated last battle against the Lich King will most likely be opened after the expansion's release.
Blizzard admitted that they messed up with releasing Black Temple, in which the Illidan encounter occurs, so soon; They made up for this a bit with the Sunwell Plateauthat made Kil'jaeden the final boss encounter of The Burning Crusade, Blizzard wants to make sure Arthas does not become just another farming boss, it needs to be a real challenge over the life of the game.
